Original Robot Versus Monster Pacific Rim

I saw a Facebook Challenge by HMT Comic Board. It was to draw your own Robot versus Monster. So here is my version.

Unlike most other drawings, this was was totally in my head. I used no references and designed both characters myself. Even the layout is all mine, so the perspective and anatomy could be off - but they this is just for fun right?

I enjoyed doing this especially since I was on downtime having an inflamed foot. The bumps in my tendon may have been the subconscious influence for all those round bumps in the monster's skin, and my constant Googles of foot muscles/tendons may have influenced the bare-flesh middle part of the monster. I also see some Mer-Man (from He-Man) influence in the monster, as well as that monster in the cover of Fantastic Four 1.

As for the robot, I was going for an old-fashioned look. I see some influence from Gobots, Fantastic Four's Herbie The Robot, and even Transformers' Optimus Prime and Shockwave in the robot.

I made the robot purple so that I could use ever color that I had in my palette of markers. I used Copic, Prismacolor, and Kuretake markers for this piece.
